The Bedfordshire Schools Training Partnership have been offering Secondary phase school based teacher training since 1996 - we now train between 45 and 55 trainee teachers each year on our School Direct and Core training programmes. The Primary training division opened in 2013 taking it's first cohort of trainees in September 2014. It is envisaged that between the Secondary and Primary phase we will train up to 80 trainees each year, with more than 90% of our Trainees going on to be employed within our partnership schools.
School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) is distinctive for the central role schools play in training prospective teachers. Each school working within in our partnership acts as a training base and provides experienced and skillful members of staff to act as mentors to support the trainees throughout their training. Secondary Subject Leaders and Primary Lead Professionals deliver weekly sessions, as well as there being Professional Studies sessions also held each week at Pix Brook Academy, where our office is also located.
We are an accredited ITT provider in our own right but also work closely with the University of Buckingham who validate the PGCE element of our course.
